Inspired by the spirit of the new world, American Soundscapes will take you on a journey from the lyrical melodies of Dvorak’s cello concerto (Ruth Marshall) to Copland’s poignant Lincoln Portrait, and finally to Carlos Simon’s The Block, a portrayal of New York City.

Ever wonder what would happen if the Sugar Plum Fairy went to Harlem? As epic as orchestra concerts get! A theatrical lighting scheme will underscore this bigger than life performance as wcfsymphony joins onstage with the Wartburg Community Symphony for an impressive side-by-side collaboration. Together we perform irresistible American music by John Adams and Erich Korngold, before wcfsymphony steps into the spotlight - literally - in Respighi’s monumental Fountains of Rome and Pines of Rome. Progressive lighting by Cedar Fall native, Ian Veenstra.
